How did you get involved in with the MMRF?

I heard about the MMRF from my brother and sister-in-law, who have been participating in events for years since both her dad and my dad have multiple myeloma. My dad passed away from multiple myeloma 3 years ago, and I wanted to honor him in some way, so I found the Road to Victories a couple of years ago and thought it was a great way to remember him and raise money for research.

What do you want people to know about multiple myeloma?

That although there isn’t a cure, there is still hope with all the treatments that are already available as well as in the works.

Why is participating in the MMRF Road to Victories ride important to you?

It’s important to me because I’m riding in memory of my dad, and I hope to get us closer to a cure so that others don’t have to lose their friends and family from this cancer. 

What are you looking most forward to/excited about in regard to the ride?

I am excited to ride, meet new people, see familiar faces from last year’s ride, and see a new and beautiful part of the country! 

What does your training regimen for this event look like?

It’s been a mix of riding, hiking, and rowing.

Who/what inspires you?

On this ride, the patients really inspire me. I was on the R2V trip last year and felt honored to be riding with patients who you could tell were so grateful to be there and be riding. In general, I’m inspired by friends and family and my rowing coaches.

Have you participated in previous MMRF events? If so, which/when?

I participated in the R2V in Maine last year.
